Dermot Donovan recently visited the Egilsson farm near Hella in the south of Iceland where the first set of 5 no Cow Pow movable feed barriers were fitted last year. The farm of 230 hectares of fertile land has 90 cows Icelandic breed, 30 Icelandic Horses and 300 sheep. The new impressive building which houses all the cows , weanlings and calves has 2 robotic milkers which will allow a planned expansion to 120 cows in the coming year. Andri and his father Egill took a trip to Ireland last year to visit O’Donovan Engineering and saw first hand the Cow Pow in operation in the research farm attached to the factory and also visited other Cow Pow users while they were here.
Andri took up the offer of being a dealer for O Donovan Engineering in Iceland and placed an order for his own farm and for a second customer in Iceland both of which were delivered last August 15. They have expressed complete satisfaction with the Cow Pow system and have had many prospective customers visit their farm in the last year, Dermot Donovan took the opportunity along with Andri to visit a number of dairy farms while there who have plans for expansion in 2017 to tie in with a Government grant aid programme being launched to assist in the expansion of the Dairy industry in Iceland.
