Here at O’ Donovan Engineering, we have a wide range of cattle feed barriers.

How are they made?
How our diagonal barrier is assembled and welded.
Diagonal Feed Barriers
This traditional diagonal feed barrier is suitable for all cow and cattle types. Designed to reduce bullying and to minimise feed wastage. The diagonal feed barrier is hot-dip galvanised, increasing its durability. Option for robust hinged sections can be manufactured with drop end frames, drop channels and treated timber plank base.
why are cattle feed barriers diagonal?
The barrier is diagonal to stop cattle pull in silage to the passageway and blocking slates or an automatic scraper. The diagonal bars made the cow turn her head entering and ending the barrier, this helps stop her pull silage in.
Crest Feed Barriers
This style feed barrier is the latest addition to our range of feed rails. The absence of a top horizontal bar reduces restriction for the animal. The diagonals of this barrier are bowed forward to provide the animal with extra reach. The crest feed barrier increases head and neck comfort due to the unique design there is less friction to the neck.
Self-Locking Stalls
The self-locking swing over stall is an index feeding system. Set to lock animals as they individually feed at the rail. This barrier has an adjustable neck width so is suitable for all animals. Making handling animals easier as they can be locked in automatically. This can make testing, vaccinating, clipping, AI, etc. an easy task for the farmer. The self-locking feed barrier reduces bullying at the feed rail. It allows the farmer to lockout animals while replacing feed.
Ultra-Safe Self Locking Stalls
The self-locking ultra-safe stall is a patented product unique to O’ Donovan Engineering. It has all of the features of the standard self-locking stall such as; it is an index feeding system. You can set it to lock animals as they individually feed at the rail. These barriers an adjustable neck width so is suitable for all animals. It makes handling animals easier as they can be locked in automatically. This can make testing, vaccinating, clipping, AI, etc. a lot easier for the farmer. The ultra-safe stall has some additional safety features; there are three individual settings including new night safe position which ensures the safety of your animals while unattended. Greater feeding reach compared to the standard self-locking stall. The full pivot linkage moves to one side which also reduces the risk of two heads getting trapped.
Cow Pow Feed Barriers
The O’ Donovan Engineering Patented Cow Pow system. This moving feed barrier allows the cattle to push forward in order for them to reach the silage. The Cow Pow has been in operation on farms in Ireland and across Europe for the past 20 years. It dramatically reduces workload and you will see a notable tranquillity in stock. This moving feed barrier allows you to feed cattle just once or twice a week, reducing labour costs significantly. This system reduces the need for feed space for animals gaining you up to 30% more cubicle space and greater yields.
The cattle push the barrier out as they graze. this can also be set for 3 stage locking to manage feed intake or for a single-sided barrier.
