always comes down to: What is the best for our cows?”

In her opinion, consistency is key. “Only high-quality rubber mat/mattresses keep their quality features over a long period of time.”

A consistent high-quality rubber mat/mattress gives a cow the convenience she needs to feel safe underfoot to reduce stress. Slippery and uneven ground is a stressor to the dairy cow.

Elevated stress hormone levels can have a negative effect on milk yield, reproductivity and even affect her unborn offspring.

A testimony to the quality of Huber mats and mattresses is the fact that there have been 0% warranty claims over the last 30 years. Huber comes with a 15-year regressive warranty.

Hugh MacEneaney, Teagasc Dairy Adviser, Mullinavat, Co Kilkenny

“Good facilities allow farmers to expand production and incomes and add to the asset value of the farm. They also lead to a better quality of life for the farm family by reducing the workload and the drudgery. In many cases, particularly on dairy farms, buildings pay for themselves over a 7-10 year period. This is especially true when capital grant and tax savings are available.”
